- When will my Homeowners Policy go through this transition?
If you placed a new Homeowners policy with us on January 1, 2021 or later, your policy is now in the new system. A yearlong effort of moving existing Homeowners policies will take place starting with renewal effective dates of July 01, 2021.
- Will my Homeowners and Personal Umbrella Policies convert together?
Your policies will convert based on renewal effective date. If these policies are effective on the same date, they will move to the upgraded system at the same time. If your policies have different renewal effective dates, they will move based on those renewal effective dates. For example, if your Homeowners policy has a renewal effective date of July 7, 2021 and Personal Umbrella has a renewal effective date of September 1, 2021, they will move over to the new system on those respective dates. Homeowners Policies must convert before your Personal Umbrella.
- How do I know if my Policy is in the new system?
A notice will be included with your renewal packet advising of the updates to your Homeowners or Personal Umbrella Policy. In addition to a new look and feel of your renewal packet, you will see a new policy number and account number associated with your Homeowners or Personal Umbrella Policy.
- What changes will I see to my Homeowners and/or Personal Umbrella Policy when it moves to the new system?
Upon your renewal into the new system you can expect these changes:
- New billing account number
- New billing design
- New policy number
- An enhanced paperless billing experience
- Homeowners policyholders may qualify for additional savings with:
- Multi-Policy discount for Personal Auto, Life, or Commercial policies
- Affinity Discount for membership in alumni, civic, or professional associations.
- Expanded Protective Devices Discount
- More precise location information
- Personal Umbrella policyholders may notice updated language now included with their policy
- Has this caused a change to my Homeowners Policy premium?
Many factors impact rating and every risk is unique. We have modernized the rate structure with our system upgrade. You may see premium increase or decrease as a result.
- What discounts are available for my Homeowners policy and how do I know if I qualify for them?
For more details on discounts offered for our Homeowners policies see the discounts tab on this page. Contact your Agent’s office today to review these discounts and see if you are eligible.
- What is the renewal lapse notice? Why is it going away?
A renewal lapse notice used to be sent if the first bill following the renewal of a policy was not paid. This notice is no longer sent out following this bill before a cancellation notice. Instead Farm Bureau Insurance is assuming that you are not renewing your policy. A pending cancellation notice will continue to be sent for mid-term bills.
- Where do I find my new account number?
Your Homeowners and/or Personal Umbrella policies will be given new account numbers when they move into the new system. Your new account number will be present on your billing statements. This will happen upon your upcoming renewal.
- Why do I have a new account number?
As a part of our system upgrade, account numbers have been changed from an 18-digit format to 12 digits.
- What will happen to my Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) I have in place now?
If your payments are being made via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), your automatic withdrawals will continue.
- How can I sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)?
To sign up for EFT or update your EFT information, please visit www.fbpay.com or contact your Farm Bureau Agent to obtain the Electronic Funds Transfer Authorization form.
- Do you offer the option to setup recurring payments for credit cards?
At this time, we do not currently offer a recurring payment option for credit cards; however, we can withdraw recurring payments from your checking or savings account through our Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payment method. Using this payment method will also bring additional savings to your Personal Auto, Home, Farm, and Commercial policies. If you have questions, please contact your Farm Bureau Agent.
- Why do I need to provide my new Farm Bureau account number to my financial institution if my payments are made via online bill pay?
If you pay bills online through your financial institution’s online bill pay service, you will need to update your Farm Bureau billing account number to the new 12-digit account number.
*Not updating your account number may result in misapplied payments and put your policy at risk of cancellation.
- Can I pay bills for my Homeowners, Personal Umbrella, and other policies at the same time?
Yes, you can pay your policies at the same time if they are all on the same account (see “What is account billing” FAQ for more info). If you have policies on different accounts or have policies in our old system you will need to pay them separately.
- What is account billing?
Farm Bureau Insurance is offering a New Account Billing option! This exciting option is available for Membership, Personal Auto, Homeowners and Personal Umbrella policies.
